3 Ways to Make Your Refrigerator Efficient

Your refrigerator is the second most home appliance after your air conditioner that consumes much amount of energy of your house and if you count on it, it actually comes in first. No need to freak out! There is a good news for you. With doing few changes and making some improvements, you can actually reduce the cost of electricity consumed by your current refrigerator. Keep It Full

The more items you put inside the refrigerator, the easier it will be for refrigerator to stay cool. By keeping it full, the refrigerator has to do less work to stay cool from inside. Also, if you are worried about where the electricity is going, keeping the refrigerator full to the end is an effective way to keep the food cold as long as possible.

Keep It Clean

This activity hardly takes your half an hour, but keeping the coils clean seriously help to improve the performance of your refrigerator and make it perform better. If you are a kind of person who can’t see dirt anywhere, then be prepared for a shock – you’ll find much dirt under the refrigerator.  All in all, keeping the refrigerator clean on monthly basis is a good thing to do to cut down the cost of electricity bill.

Keep It Between 35 and 38 Degrees

Many of us are not aware of what the exact refrigerator temperature settings are. They are usually set incorrectly i.e.; either too low or too high. However, the ideal setting for the freezers is zero degrees and for the refrigerators is between 35 and 38 degrees. If the food in still freezing or thawing even after setting the unit to the settings just mentioned, you may need to get the refrigerator checked, or it may be the high time to buy a new refrigerator.
